Montepulciano Riserva Praesidium d.o.c. 2019

€ 42.60

Organic Montepulciano
The Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Riserva by Praesidium is a mystical wine. "Each of us possesses our own identity and originality shaped by the type of education received and the place where we were born and raised. Starting from this premise, we believe that wine, as a cultural product, the result of the interaction between man and nature, also has a unique personality that must be allowed to express itself in the most spontaneous and natural way." Thus, the Pasquale family summarizes their philosophy and perpetuates the work and life of farmers. The vineyards are located on the western hills of the Valle Peligna at about 400 meters above sea level, where the soil is clayey, rich in skeleton with high organic matter, and the ground is covered with siliceous pebbles coated with a white limestone crust. Here, ventilation is high and constant, and temperature variations are significant. The grapes harvested in the first half of October ferment spontaneously in steel, the wine then matures first for 24 months always in steel, then an additional 24 in Slavonian oak and another 6 months in bottle.

MONTEPULCIANO d'Abruzzo Emidio Pepe 2022

€ 78.10

{{Price Info 1}}

The Montepulciano d'Abruzzo by Emidio Pepe is a true monument to Italian viticulture, one of those reds capable of challenging time by establishing a dialectical relationship. Truly a bottle that needs no introduction, this Montepulciano produced by one of the most renowned and esteemed wineries in Italy has always been part of the select circle of our favorite wines. How to describe it in words? The opportunity to taste different vintages of Emidio's wines vertically allows one to fully grasp its greatness and immense evolutionary potential, reserved only for the best reds in the world. Here in Torano Nuovo, in the Teramano region, the idea of producing quality wines that faithfully reflect the vintage and territory has become something greater, something capable of filling the hearts of enthusiasts. Legendary.

The Pepe Montepulciano d'Abruzzo is produced with pure grapes from the eponymous vine, sourced from 30-year-old vines that rest on clayey and medium-textured soil. In the vineyard, the dictates of organic farming are scrupulously followed, integrating some biodynamic practices, although the idea of healthy grapes and soil was already inherent in Emidio's mentality. In the winery, manual destemming of the bunches and spontaneous alcoholic fermentation in vitrified concrete tanks is followed by bottling and hand decanting without filtration. The liquid ages for 24 months in concrete containers.

The Montepulciano Pepe wine presents itself in the glass with the typical intense ruby color that is not very penetrable. The nose has great complexity, capable of evolving impressively over time, so much so that while young it displays winey and fresh fruit notes, later enriching its profile with hints of graphite, earth, and underbrush. A compact and austere sip, always driven by beautiful acidity and a vital, sculpted tannin. Immortal.
